Dean Riechers
Dr. Dean Riechers studies herbicide metabolism in plants, including metabolic resistance mechanisms in weeds and safener-induced detoxification in cereal crops. He also teaches or co-teaches two courses in the CPSC Department.
Elizabeth Fitzgerald
Lizzy is a third year MS student studying weed science in the Riechers Lab. She earned a BS in biological science from Cornell University in 2022. During her undergrad, she participated in entomology research with honeybees in the McArt Lab and plant biology research with maize in the Scanlon Lab. In the Riechers Lab, Lizzy collaborates with Syngenta to identify the genes involved in specific forms of metabolic herbicide resistance in waterhemp, while also contributing to a variety of other projects across the lab.
Ross Bodine
Ross Bodine is a senior studying Plant Biotechnology with a strong interest in weed science. He is excited about the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build his knowledge in the field of weed science and herbicide resistance. Ross is also interested in pesticide policy and how regulations relate to real-world pesticide use practices.
